Wow, you aren't kidding. I don't know how some people do it, really. My Snape looks different depending on the drawing. And it doesn't help that I draw on scrap paper so I don't generally keep any of my art. I'm constantly looking through old posts to see how I did something.
I'm weird about little touches, though. Like when I do the sandals on Snape. It's a bit of a non sequitor, but I love it. I think the barrette really brought home the idea that Allie was a girl. Though the large flower on the shirt should have been clue enough.
I'll say it again, your Harry is my idea of the definitive Harry. Now that I've seen yours, no one else's will ever work for me.
