Time for a little bit of an update.
This weekend's convention was great. I have never been to Kansas City before, and it's actually a kind of cool place! I wouldn't mind living there for a little while, I think.
Anyway, we had to leave the convention early to race back to Lincoln. The Dick blick store here is shutting down and everything is 70% off!!! We were like "oh yeah" and then like "ooh, yeah" so I went and was like "omg watercolors!!!"
So, I bought myself some watercolor blocks for uber-cheap, three sets of Dr. Ph. Martin's liquid watercolors for $30 each (yeah, that's 14 bottles for $30, omg), some super wonderful high-pigment lovely "I love you" pastels (Unison Colour) for $35. (a set of 18 full pastels), a full set of rapidiograph pens (7 plus some ink and instructions), and lots and lots of bristol board.
After that, we all went to HuHot for Mongolian barbecue. My winner dish tonight was the chicken with lots of pea pods, pad thai noodles, pineapple, onions, lots and lots of ginger and sesame sauces, and then topped with coconut and peanuts. Oh yeah. Me belly was singin' the happy songs.
When I got back to my lovely's house, I startedplaying practicing with my new toys tools. And let me tell you, putting those liquid watercolors in a rapidio pen, then using a wet brush over them... oh yeah, baby. That's so gonna be my inking technique for one of these upcoming fests.
Tomorrow morning at zero-god-early we leave to head back to Minnesota. Oh joy. As soon as I get home, I'll have to quick get ready for my second job. I love teaching these kids in after school manga classes, but it's gonna kill me. Really.
I want to work more tomorrow night. I s'pose I ought to tag a bit in my RPGs, too.
